Grouping in Windows has two aspects -- button ordering (arranged by program), and button sharing. I run with grouping enabled for just button ordering; I use TweakUI (and Taskbar Shuffle is the same) to set the button-sharing limit to a minimum of 15 windows from the same task, just as a safeguard if I do end up with a program opening a stupid number of windows.
What you might be able to do is enable button ordering now. I can imagine that button sharing would be a lot more complicated though! That could be left until another day.
