I recently bought a Sony Vaio laptop (R505 'super-slim') with windows 2000. I have a 17-inch monitor that I'd like to connect to it, but am having trouble.

I can get the monitor to mirror what is shown on the laptop display but can't figure out how to get to the "extend my laptop onto this monitor" feature to show up as an option. I had it working on my old compaq laptop and loved it.

Thanks

What compaq laptop did you have and what OS?

You would need to find the a driver that supports multimonitor for your graphics card.

Same question: is it possible to get an extended desktop with a Sony Vaio that uses an Intel 82815 integrated graphics chip under Windows XP Home edn.

I've tried the current XP drivers from Intel's website, same result. The external display will mirror but not extend the desktop.

There is no mention of an extended desktop option in the online documentation (unlike the 82830 where it is explicitly referred to). Should I take this as indication that it can't be done. Does anyone have any experience under other OS?

Thanks

I also recently purchased a Vaio laptop and am trying
to get the dualview working (under XP home). The
machine mirrors, but I can't get anything more than
that. Even an extended desktop would be better.
Any luck getting it going yet?
