I suggest the ultimate system should include
the monitors as well. Actually, my theoretical
ultimate system is the opposite of the other
one in the forum. I know what monitors I want,
and what OS, but I don't know what card!
In fact, I believe it is currently impossible
to drive this ultimate-ultimate system:
Dual Dell 2000FP 1600x1200 LCD monitors $1350...
driven at 60Hz over _DVI_ for crispest picture...
On Windows XP Pro...
With dual Athlon processors...
Driving this would need either a fat AGP card
(maybe the GeForce4 on Feb 4 will do it)
or _PCI_ cards with 1600x1200 DVI output
with drivers that can cope with 2 cards.
As best I can tell, all current cards fall short.
