UltraMon Desktop encountered a fatal error and will exit

More information

Version 3.0.7
OS: 6.1.7600 x64
Source file: .\WallpaperDesigner.cpp
Line: 157
Return value: -2147286789
Laset error: 0
----------------------------------------------------

This erro has occurred several time a day for about 3 days time now, and everytime it happens my taskbar on the 2nd monitor dissapears while the "ChangeWallpaperAuto2" script still runs fine and the taskbar on the primary monitor still works fine.
Somehow I'm also getting two taskbar icons showing that 2 (?) insances of ultramon is running at the same time...

If this happens when I'm in a full screen application on my primary then it will automatically go into windowed mode.

This is really odd and annoying; anyone have any help to offer?

Cheers,
Alex

You'll get this if there's a problem with the wallpaper profile file for the active wallpaper. To fix this, go to UltraMon menu > Wallpaper, then click on OK when you get asked if you want to adjust the wallpaper for the current desktop configuration, this will reset the wallpaper profile.

I'm not sure how this would be related to the other issues with UltraMon, let me know if you still get this after fixing the issue with the wallpaper profile.

For some reason I don't get asked if I want to adjust the wallpaper, so this problem is still a very annoying one for me :/

You can also change a wallpaper setting, for example the background color or image, then hit Apply to save the changes, this should also fix the problem.

I am getting the following error when trying to apply any wallpaper profile that isn't the default.

You'll get this error if UltraMon can't change the active wallpaper. Can you select a different wallpaper via Control Panel > Display > Desktop Background?

I get this too, occasionally, after switching back from using my xbox with my (multi) monitor setup. When I try to select a different WP profile and apply it I get the same error: Line 108 .\WallpaperUtil.cpp

Applying a WP via windows control panel works fine and a restart fixes it but its quite annoying having to restart every time I get this error.

running Vista SP1 x32 / Ultramon 3.0.10

Nick, does the display configuration change when you do this, for example you first unplug a monitor from the computer and connect it to the Xbox, then disconnect it from the Xbox and connect it to the computer again?

Yea it connects to my primary monitor automatically via an HDMI switch. The error only happens sometimes though, not every time.

I put my computer into sleep last night and just turned it on again, I tried applying the WP profile and it works fine, so sleep mode seems to fix it too.

Something else you could try: after you got the error, go to UltraMon menu > Wallpaper again and try to apply a different wallpaper profile again.

Nope I tried that, gives the same error as before.

Unfortunately I don't know what exactly might cause this, basically UltraMon tells the operating system which wallpaper to use, but this fails for some reason.
