Hi,
I have ultramon installed on 2 PCs. Both are giving me some problems.
The first one runs Windows Vista SP2 and runs 2 PCs. The monitor which was numbered 1 is now 2 and vice versa. While this is bearable, it is still a flaw. I just swap monitor number 2 in monitor 1s place by using Display Properties from the Desktop and it remembers the new layout when I restart. However, it should not switch the monitor numbers.
My second PC runs Windows XP and has a serious issue. I have now upgraded to SP3, but the problem persisted in SP2 and now in SP3. When Windows loads up its all fine initially. As soon as the ultramon taskbar icon appears during the start up process, my right monitor switches to the left one and vice versa. Hence, I have to move the mouse pointer towards the left end of my left screen in order to get it to the right monitor! So, I go to Display Properties and correct the layout by dragging one monitor to the other side and save it. However, everytime the PC starts, the problem reappears. During the start up process, before the ultramon tray icon loads, I can tell that the monitors are orientated the right way. However, as soon as ultramon loads, the switch happens.
I hope that there is a solution to my problems, as I do not want to take the nuclear option and uninstall ultramon. It is a really good program except for these fixable faults.

UltraMon can't change the monitor numbering, what you could do is switch the monitor cables, the operating system assigns monitor numbers depending on which port of the video card the monitor is connected to.
Seems unlikely that the issue with the display configuration getting changed after a restart is related to UltraMon, to verify this check if you still have the problem without UltraMon installed. But you could use an UltraMon display profile as a workaround, you can set up display profiles via UltraMon menu > Display Profiles, the profile can be configured to get applied automatically after login.
