I have searched the forum and can't find an answer.

I have an ASUS p5b with an nvidia 8600gt. (Win xp home)

I was using the 8600 to drive two monitors and now I have another monitor I want to add. I put in a trident VGA card but it not would operate because of a conflict. I know that Win XP will run at least 6 monitors without any other software.

What can I do use to use the third monitor?

My PCIEX16 is used by the 8600 video card
I have three PCI slots and three PCIEX1
There is no integrated graphics on this moboard.

One thing that might work is to use a USB to VGA adapter. I have been told that this will cause the same problems as an additional internal card.

I don't need major performance on the third monitor. It will mostly have Outlook email parked on it.

Any ideas?

Did you try setting the PCI card (Trident) as primary in the BIOS? For some older cards this is required to get them working.

I thoroughly searched the BIOS menu and found lots of interesting things but nothing about video cards.

The mother board does NOT have internal or integrated graphics.
