Hi,
Currently I have a 32in 1080p and an old 17in dell flat screen monitor. Now the way im using Ultramon is by mirroring whats on the 32 onto the 17. But for some reason, no matter what I change the resolution to for the small monitor, it always reverts to what looks like a wide screen image on a tv with the black bars on top and bottom and bottom and the picture is blurred. Any idea what this could be? Thanks

UltraMon mirroring always preserves the aspect ratio of the source, that's why you get the black bars at the top and bottom. The blurring is due to the image getting downscaled from 1920 x 1080 on the 32" display to (for example) 1280 x 1024 on the 17" display.
To prevent any scaling getting done, uncheck the 'shrink mirror image' option on the last page of the mirroring settings configuration wizard.
