Forums -> UltraMon™ -> Windows opening to secondary when disabled

Hi,

I'm running XP on a Dell laptop with Ultramon 2.7.1.0 and a Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family graphics card. I frequently connect and disconnect my monitor throughout the day, always disabling the secondary before I do so.

My problem is that sometimes, when I close a program that is open on the 2nd monitor and later try to restart it with the 2nd monitor disconnected, the program will nonetheless open to the 2nd monitor. When this happens, the program will maximize to the laptop, but will resize back to the 2nd monitor. If the program allows me to manually resize the maximized window (via the lower-right corner), then there is no problem, but otherwise I have to reconnect the monitor just to use the program.

Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

UltraMon currently doesn't have an automatic workaround for this, but you should be able to move the application to the internal monitor with a Move Window hotkey, you can configure hotkeys under UltraMon Options > Hotkeys.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that. Just set it up and it looks like it'll do the job.
