Forums -> Multiple monitors -> Snap windows in Eyefinity on 3 montiors?

Hey my friend! Been a loyal fan and client for years. Anyways, just got into a triple display setup. Now I will be running Eyefinity and wondering...

With Ultramon, you could snap a window to fullscreen in the monitor it started in. And if you like you could send it across both monitors or to monitor #2.

With this eyefinity it seems there is no snap function. Maximizing a window makes it spread across both screens.

Is there going to be anything to combat that function?

Sounds like the drivers don't support regular extended desktop mode. Could you post the system information from UltraMon menu > About?

Chris, what OS are you running? I'm running dual HD5870s in CrossFireX on Windows 7, and 3 24" Dell LCDs, 2xDVI and 1xDisplayPort. In Win7, if I maximize a window, it only maximizes to the monitor it's on. Also, the Win key+left/right arrow will snap in the given direction, up/down arrow handle maximize, restore and minimize. It also handles snapping to the edges of my middle monitor. I hope this helps.

Hi, I am picking up on this again as I havent got any clear answer anywhere. The following is my About-information when running ATI Eyefinity (large 3 monitor wide 5760x1080, not 3x1920x1080)

------------------------------------------
1 monitors
Current desktop: 5760x1080 (0,0 - 5760,1080)

Monitor 1 - G2420HDBL (primary):
Settings: 5760x1080, 32-bit color, 60 Hz refresh rate
Coordinates: 0,0 - 5760,1080. Workspace: 0,0 - 5760,1018
Video card: ATI Radeon HD 5900 Series
Device: \\.\DISPLAY1\Monitor0
------------------------------------------

This is an issue because when gaming with Eyefinity we need to switch to Eyefinity mode, which is not good for desktop use because of lack of snapping and "stupid" maximizing of windows. The desktop switching always messes up the icons and gadget placing which is very annoying.

Andreas, that's definitely span mode. UltraMon won't be of much help because it will also see only a single wide monitor.

SplitView might be worth a try for moving/maximizing windows.
