Is there any way to get the new Windows 7 Taskbar functionality on the UltraMon smart taskbar on the second monitor? TIA

Support for new Windows 7 taskbar features will be considered for a future release.

Seconding support for requesting better support of the Windows 7 "Superbar" for a future release!
Aero Peek has become essential, as has being able to pin icons to particular places of the taskbar. Much more efficient (once you get used to it).
Finally, keep up the good work. IMO Ultramon is an essential tool on any multiscreen system!

I think it's surprisingly how lazy the developers seem to have been with implementing the very nice and handy new windows 7 features into ultramon considering it's been beta and RC of win7 for a year before it was released, and now with windows 7 released, still no support?
meh...

Saying the dev is "lazy" is totally uncalled for. There is a little thing called "life" that can "get in the way".

I also would like Windows 7 Smart Taskbar support.
I really miss the pinned and not opened applications in the Smart Taskbar. And also the order of the applications is not the same. With a lot of applications open, it is disturbing to search for the correct icon.
Keep it up... i really like UltraMon.

I love Ultramon, and would love to see support for Windows 7-type taskbar functionality soon.

I too would like to see the Windows 7 smart taskbar features added to Ultramon, I've been a user for over 3 years now and would like to stick with it as I've got used to how it works.
As a developer myself I know only too well how difficult it is to find the time to fit everything in.

Ditto. Would be a valuable feature.

Yes. Windows 7 functionality is a must. Especially now that all the apps I relegate to monitor 2 have all these fancy taskbar related features.
Thanks guys.

I'd also find it very useful to have proper Windows 7 functionality on my secondary monitor. Looking forward to the new version...

I was so disappointed to see that Windows 7 Task Bar features are not supported in the final release of version 3. Earlier comments had given me some hope that at long last they would be in the version 3 final. Patience has run out. Features like the pop up thumbnail live preview are now the norm and really should have been addressed by now.
Never mind, I have found an entirely satisfactory solution. I have arranged my two monitors with the secondary on the left, rather than the right as is usual. I then disabled the option to show a task bar on the secondary monitor.
The result is that all my icons are clustered in the centre of my combined display. That is, they are on the left side of the right hand monitor (which is slightly larger than the left hand monitor) so they are easily and conveniently available right in the middle of my work space. Of course, all the Windows 7 functionality is fully available because Windows 7 is providing it.
Finally, realising that Ultramon isn't actually contributing anything now, I uninstalled it. My setup is clean, neat, works exactly how Windows 7 should; I only wish I had thought of it earlier.

I support the need to add full W7 functionality & appearance to ultramon. In addition to adding this, if possible, it would be nice to have the option for the following:
Assuming ultramon is updated to mirror the entire W7 taskbar (pinned items, running items, potentially the clock + etc) on more than one monitor, programs/windows would open within the monitor where the mouse click was performed... possible?

I'm happy that the Ultramon 3 Beta works on Windows 7, but probably won't pay to upgrade to version 3 until pinning and peeking are working.

I'm with some of the others on here. I'm glad to see this software working on Windows 7, but I won't pay for it until it actually has the same features as the OS itself. I'm extremely disappointed that those features aren't in the software yet. Maybe I'll reconsider a purchase once they're added.

i also dont see a need to pay for a new upgrade at this point, because the new paid release that my license wont work for anymore doesnt seem to have any of the features that would make it worth paying for.
As soon as Taskbar Window Previews, Jump Lists, and Icon/Shortcut stacking are functional on the secondary taskbars then i will be willing to pay for this excellent app, but until then im not going to pay for an upgrade that doesnt actually upgrade any features.

Same here. It's a great app and I'll keep using the old version on my desktop which runs Vista but for my new laptop on Windows 7, it doesn't work like I want it to.
Aside from the missing obvious features, a problem I have is the way pinned icons work. It is especially annoying because when the application is in another screen, clicking the pinned icon on the main screen will open a new instance of the application. I think pinned icons should still be highlighted when the application is on another window so clicking it simply gives focus to that app.
Once this problem is fixed and we can pin icons to the other taskbars, I'll gladly pay the for the upgrade! The other features are more like extras to me.
And one more thing. Even though I criticize, I mean give a constructive opinion. I think you did a great job. Keep up the good work!

Another vote for better Windows 7 support!

Piling on ... better win 7 support! Pinned programs can be a problem (it looks like program isn't opened on the main task bar when the program is on the smart taskbar.

Jerry 2010-06-22 01:25
I also would want full Win 7 suport before paying $40 for this. Without the ability to preview my task bar items, it seems silly to run this to manage a second screen.

A huge vote from me too! Things I really miss: 1) The pinned programs (already mentioned) 2) The ability to move the programs around in the taskbar (like the originally) 3) That it shows feedback like x% finished (you know then x% is green) 4) The toolbar is useless if you're using "always combine", since ultramon doesn't have the ability to combine, move around or even show a preview on mouse over! :( )
But even though, it is the best program I've seen, but there's room for improvement
Best regards, Jeppe

Another vote for improved win7 support from me also - thanks!

Well, I just sprung for the upgrade, and am surprised that we can't pin programs to task bars other than for the #1 monitor. I hope this will be fixed soon!
