So far Ive never had a problem with Ultramon before. I always have windows live messenger on and it is pinned to my main bar. Recently tho i will get Messenger on both taskbars even if the windows only opened on my other screen and it cant be removed. Even when closing down messenger it stays up acting as if pinned to the smart task bar, only to be completely removed by disabling the task bar.
I have 2 displays, My main display has the smart taskbar and my 2nd display has my main startmenu bar. This would be fine if i wanted windows live pinned to the main display but i dont >.<

You'll get this on Windows 7, due to Live Messenger adding an item to the taskbar instead of the system tray. Some users reported that running Live Messenger in Vista compatibility mode fixed the problem for them.

Solution is to find the msnmessenger.exe file. Goto properties and tell it to run under compatibility mode Vista SP2 or below. It will then put itself back in the system tray.

Excellent, thank you! This solution works for me.
I just right clicked "Windows Live Messenger" in the start menu, chose properties and then on the "Compatibility" tab I changed it to "XP (Service Pack 3)".
