There is a common bug in Vista and Windows 7 where if you set the task bar to auto-hide and maximize an app the taskbar gets stuck behind it and doesn't show. This doesn't happen with all apps but it does happen with Google Chrome - my new default browser.
The work around on the main monitor's taskbar is to press the "Windows key + T" as this cycles trough all the windows thubnails and forces the task bar to show. So to get to the point...
