I work for a big universality and we are currently trying to transition from xp to win7 in about 70 of our classrooms. We currently have ultramon 2.7.1 installed on our xp machines and have it working without a problem.
We recently purchased 70 licenses for ultramon 3.0.1 to install on win7. The installation processes of ultramon for win7 went fine and so did setting up the profiles, hot keys, and wallpaper. The only problem I am currently having is that the "Apply this display profile when loggin in" does not work.
We set up the win7 ultramon profiles up exactly like we did for the xp ultramon profiles.
Profile 1: 1 monitor with the "Apply this display profile when loggin in" checked
Profile 2: 2 monitors with the "Apply this display profile when loggin in" unchecked.
Whats happening is an instructor will log onto the machine and then activate Profile 2 so they have two monitors (extended desktop) going, sometimes they will log off and forget to reactivated profile 1. Now when the next instructor logs onto the machine Profile 2 is still activated instead of Profile 1. Having Profile 1 activated when instructors first log on is very important for the way we have our equipment setup.
I have verified that the Profile 1 shortcut is located in the startup folder.
Any one have any ideas as to why this is not working?

I'm not sure what would cause this, works fine for me on Windows 7 with UltraMon 3.0.10.
What happens if you click on the shortcut to the profile in Start Menu > Programs > Startup? Does the profile get applied successfully?

Yes, the start up shortcut does work when I click on it.

Maybe it's a timing issue, the profile gets applied but for some reason the display configuration change doesn't succeed at that time.
Please try if using the ApplyProfileDelayed script fixes the problem.

The script does work but it does not seem like a reliable fix since we have our computers added to a domain/Active Directory. Depending on network traffic and group polices our machines can take any where from 2 to 60 seconds to log on. If I set the timer to 5 seconds and it take the machine 30 seconds to log on the profile will not be loaded. If I set the timer to 30 seconds and it takes the machine 30 seconds to log on the profile gets loaded after the instructor has already started to use the machine and it may confuse them (please keep in mind that a portion of our instructors are not 100% familiar with technology so having a machine changing on them in the middle of using it can freak them out.)
Looks like I may need to look into creating my own script that waits for the end of profile to load before loading the profile/disabling the secondary monitor.
I'm a little disappointed to find out that I will need to create a script to get this piece of software to work. It worked flawlessly in XP and we have come to depend on it for some of our functionality in the classrooms.

One thing you could do is use a custom script which checks if secondary monitors are disabled, if not it disables them, then checks if disabling the secondary monitors succeeded. If not, the script will wait a second or so and try again. Let me know if you would be interested in such a script.
I don't know why you didn't have this issue on XP, UltraMon display profiles basically work the same way on XP and Windows 7.

Yes, I would be interested in a script like that.
Yes, Ultramon Profiles work the same on XP and Win7 but XP and Win7 do not load things the same, that is where the problem is. It looks like XP doesn't start to load the startup folder programs until the end of the machine profile, where win7 starts to do it almost right away.

I have sent you the script by e-mail.

Thank you for your dedicated and hard work in helping me resolve this issue. The script you sent me works in disabling the secondary monitor in a smooth and timely manner.
If my transition to windows 7 with ultramon is nice and smooth from here on out I will continue to recommend your product to people.
Thanks again.
