Forums -> UltraMon™ -> UltraMon crashing after Vista log on

Firstly, UltraMon has worked great for me in the past. I've been using the beta version for Vista 32-bit without issue for just about a year now and was very happy to see the software go live. But, luck would have it Ultramon has not been welcome upon actual purchase of the software.

Every time I log on to my computer, UltraMon crashes. Details:

UltraMon Taskbar encountered a fatal error and will exit.

More Information:

Version: 3.0.10
OS: 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 x32
Source file: .\DeskTaskBarManager.cpp
Line: 871
Return Value: 0
Last error: 0

I get this message every time it crashes after logging on.

Simply put, UltraMon is NOT keeping my display settings----when I log on, everything (desktop icons, taskbar, start menu button, wallpaper) on my left (24") monitor is moved to the right (22") monitor. Once I change things back via UltraMon's Display Settings, the taskbar no longer displays on the right (22") monitor (which has been happening since the crashing began, even with Smart Taskbar enabled).

I've no idea why any of this is happening and to be frank, I'm not happy with the fact that beta testing UltraMon saw zero issues and upon buying the software it's been nothing but trouble.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I don't use UltraMon myself, but in any case, have you tried uninstalling UltraMon, rebooting, then reinstalling UltraMon. Also, do you have the latest video driver installed?

You'll get this if UltraMon can't determine on which monitor the main taskbar is.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't get a taskbar once you restart UltraMon, for further troubleshooting please send me a copy of your UltraMon settings to support@realtimesoft.com. To do this, run regedit.exe, then right-click the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon and select Export from the menu to save the settings to a .reg file.
