I'm currently operating 4 monitors via 2-PCIe cards and want to add a 5th monitor, will PCIe x1(same chipset) card work w/ vista o/s.

1-PCIe x1
2 PCI

Should be fine, I used to have a setup with two Nvidia Quadro NVS cards, one x16 and one x1, worked fine with Vista.

Are you buying an X1 card, or are you doing either the card mod or slot mod so you can use a PCIe X16 card with your X1 slot? I documented the PCIe X16 to PCIe X1 video card mod that I did, on my web site, and the slot mod is documented on various web sites.
