Forums -> UltraMon™ -> Clicking on maximized title bar in Windows 7 "restores" the window (bad)

I've noticed since switching to Windows 7 (two monitors, side by side, on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, running with "Windows classic" personalization and UltraMon 3.0.10), that my windows are "restoring down" when I click on their title bars to activate them, unless I'm very careful to not move my mouse at all during the click.

It also means I can't drag maximized windows because they restore down as soon as I start to move them.

This is really annoying, but I don't know whether it is a Windows 7 nuisances (I hate Windows 7 already) or a possible UltraMon setting.

Here are the steps to reproduce:

1) Put up a maximized window
2) Activate a window on a different monitor
3) move the mouse back to the first monitor and click on the title bar to activate the window. If the mouse is still moving at all, the window will restore down and need to be re-maximized.

I never saw this happen on XP and Vista on three sets of computers / monitors since I started using UltraMon.

It takes extra time and effort to make sure that my mouse pointer is not moving at all I activate the maximized window, and I'm finding that I often cause it to restore down on Windows 7.

Of course I'd also like to be able to drag maximized windows but that feature also doesn't seem to work - instead I get a "restored down" window that does not pop back up to maximized on the monitor I drop it.

Is there a way for me to address this with UltraMon and Windows 7?

Einstein didn't say "everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler".

That would be too simple.

This is a new Windows 7 feature, see Disable Aero Snap Auto Maximize and Arrange Window in Windows 7 for information on disabling it.

You can still use UltraMon to drag maximized windows, but you'll need to enable the feature under UltraMon Options > General (enable moving of maximized windows using the mouse), this is disabled by default on Windows 7.
