I'm a student working for a university, and I'm in charge of 4 science lab classrooms. My boss put me in charge of a project to have monitors displaying the lab schedules in the windows to the classrooms (so that's 4 computers, 8 additional monitors). Our main goal is to be able to access these computers remotely to update the lab schedules. This looks like an awesome product but I have some questions: -How long can VGA cable run without deteriorating too much of the signal? -Do you think UltraMon is the right product for this project, and is it easy to access remotely? -What do you think is the best way to display the lab schedules (website, powerpoint, etc) to access remotely and update easily?
Thanks!
ps. I'm experimenting with the trial version of UltraMon on an old Dell d410 right now but I can't get it to recognize both a vga and dvi connection at the same time, is this a pretty standard problem?

You should be able to do this with a remote control application which supports multiple monitors, I don't think that UltraMon will be that useful for your needs. VNC should support multiple monitors.
Can't help you with the maximum cable length.
Regarding the laptop: the hardware would need to support this, but most laptops only support two monitors at a time, either internal + 1x external, or 2x external.
