Hey there,
I've just treated myself to 2 Dell 2209WAs, coming from a pair of generic Dell monitor which were both running 1280x1024. Ultramon was working super with them, and I never had any problems.
Now with these monitors, which run at 1680x1050, when I enable my secondary monitor, it decides to default to 1600x1024. This is a setting my monitor cannot display, so each time I enable this monitor, I then have to delve into monitor settings and dial in the correct resolution.
So i'm not sure this is Ultramon's problem, or if it's anything to do with my graphics card (Nvidia GT240), but it gets pretty annoying sorting this problem 6+ times a day.
Any help or suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
David

Oh, and if it makes any difference, my main monitor is running on DVI, and the second is VGA, as they are the only two monitor ports on my graphics card.

I would recommend using a display profile for this, that should fix the problem, UltraMon then applies exactly the settings stored in the profile. You can create display profiles via UltraMon menu > Display Profiles.
I'm not sure what exactly causes this, but I've seen a similar issue on Windows 7, the operating system may return the wrong settings for disabled monitors.

Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately that doesn't work. Once I disable and re-enable the monitor the same message pops up. Applying the profile then brings it back, but it doesn't seem to be applying said profile the instant the secondary monitor comes back.
I've tried setting the resolution in Ultramon, Windows and the Nvidia control panel, yet the same incorrect resolution gets recalled each time it's disabled...

With re-enabling the monitor, do you mean turning it on by pressing the button on the monitor, or by re-enabling it via UltraMon or Windows Display Properties?

Indeed, by right-clicking the Ultramon icon in my taskbar and clicking "Enable Secondary" or using the hotkey I set up for it. Sorry for not being more clear!

You don't need to separately enable the monitor first, just apply the display profile when you want to re-enable the monitor, the profile will enable the monitor using the stored settings, this way you shouldn't get the error.
