I love both Ultramon and Dexpot. They're the two best unexpected things on my new computer. The Ultramon smart taskbar is especially great, but I do encountered some feature limitation / bugs.

1. (Feature limitation) I can move things around in the primary monitor's taskbar, but I can't move things around in my second monitor's taskbar.

2. (Bug) I switch between two profiles, one for my dual monitors driven by my video card's two DVI outputs and one for my HDTV driven by my video card's HDMI output. It basically works great, but sometimes when switching, I lose the primary monitor's taskbar, including the Windows button. I believe this happens most often when I quickly switch between the two profiles.

So far, I've had to reboot the machine using special user interface trickery, but I hope to figure out how to restart the Windows Explorer executable that does this.

Thanks for making such a great product!

1) support for this will be considered for a future release. You could also do this with Taskbar Shuffle or Taskix, I'm not sure though if these work on Windows 7.

2) sounds like explorer.exe crashes for some reason, do you get any error messages? You can restart explorer.exe manually by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL, then select the Task Manager option, select File > New Task from the menu and enter explorer.exe there.

Glad to hear you like UltraMon!

Thank you, Christian.

1. Neither Taskbar Shuffle nor Taskix work on Windows 7. It seems I'm left waiting and hoping. I guess that's how it goes sometimes.

2. I do not believe Explorer crashes. After making the post yesterday, I did some investigation and deliberately killed Explorer in the process. That looked different. In the bug I described, I could bring up menus with the keyboard, but it was as if the taskbar was simply elsewhere (perhaps below?). When I killed Explorer, I couldn't bring up any menus.

I found the following sites had useful stuff for the "Restarting Explorer" problem.

Maybe the taskbar lost its always on top status for some reason, this way it would get hidden behind open applications. To confirm if the taskbar was only hidden, minimize all applications when you get this the next time.
