I do a lot of telemedicine via web browser. I have 4 monitors set up in a 2x2 formation, and a fifth set off to the side. Whenever I look at a case, I want 2 browser windows open. Over the 4 monitors in the 2x2 formation, I want one of the browser windows (that contain images I need to analyze) to span across all of them. On the 5th monitor (the one off to the side) I want the other browser window (which contains the report form I need to fill out for every case).
Now I know that ultramon makes it easy to do this manually if I want to drag the windows around for each case. But I want to be able to have hotkeys set up so that when I open a case, everything resizes and moves itself automatically.
I've played around a little with my set up and have discovered that if I set the 5th monitor to the left or right of the 2x2 monitor set up, when I press the "maximize to desktop" button, it includes the 5th monitor in it's calculation of where that window should be placed, thus spanning across all the monitors. If I set Windows such that it thinks that the 5th monitor is below or above the 2x2 set-up, ultramon maximizes only to the 2x2 set-up and leaves the 5th monitor blank (which is what I want).
So, simply put, is there any way to tell ultramon to only "maximize to desktop" across my 2x2 set-up and leave that fifth monitor blank when the 5th monitor to set to the right or left of the 2x2 set-up?

I was mistaken. Ultramon counts that fifth monitor when it maximizes to desktop no matter where I put it, up, down, left, or right.

You could do this with the Maximize2Mon script.
To configure the script, set LEFT_MONITOR_ID to the number of the top-left monitor, and RIGHT_MONITOR_ID to the number of the bottom-right monitor.
