Hi,

I wonder if someone can help
after adding a Tv to my setup (XP MC)
it left me with only 9 screens for normal use
(9+ the tv)

i already have another computer with a few screens on, but need one or 2 more on the main computer as they run the main finance charts

While looking for a solution for more screens i came across Multimon and VT

Unfortunately once multimon (or VT) is installed and after any extra screens are activated, not too long after (10-15mins) i get the blue screen of death and memory dump, i also get a message from Matrox Pdesk saying its encountered a problem and is closing down just after normal boot up

ive only once had the screen of death in 3yrs,
but had it over 10 times at least while trying out multimon

The cards are 2x Matrox G200s (which have worked flawlessly for over a yr with the 8 screens)
+ 2 via normal PCIE card

an ATI 6670 crossfire (brand new) for main screen and tv via HDMI
also a ATI 4550 (which also crashed)

i've read over some of the other multi screen system problems, but cant really see the problem here - everything is fine until another screen is added and multimon works with just the 10 screens

the extra screens have been added via another g200 and tried also with USB DVI adaptor, both crash the same, until the are diconnected and drivers removed - then everything's fine again

Seems there's a conflict with any extra screens over 10 in windows and or multimon

any advice would be appreciated as don't really want to upgrade to windows 7 quite yet

Thanks

That sounds like an issue with the video card driver, you should see the name of the driver which crashed on the kernel crash screen.

If the system reboots immediately, go to Control Panel > System > Advanced > Startup and Recovery and uncheck 'Automatically restart'. This way you'll be able to see the error message.

Thanks for the quick reply, i'll give that a go
and possibly post again if no luck or dont understand what it means (which is likely)

after much googling, it seems there could be many reasons why its crashing
too many to list, but will see how it goes next time i give it another go

cheers

happy new yr
