I'm currently running two 4:3 monitors at 1280x1024 with Ultramon. I'm getting ready to replace my main monitor with a widescreen monitor with a resolution of 1920x1200. Can Ultramon support two different aspect rations and two different resolutions on two monitors or will my 4:3 monitor have black bars top and bottom?
Thanks

Are you using UltraMon's mirroring feature? If yes, this will work fine, UltraMon will downscale the image as necessary and you'll get black bars at the top and bottom of the 4:3 monitor due to the difference in aspect ratio.

I'm not sure if I'm using mirroring. I have my desktop stretched across both monitors. I have a wallpaper image that is 2560 x 1024 so that it stretches across both monitors. The background image is not mirrored (duplicated) on both monitors.

My concern was whether or not I could have two different resolutions in the settings. It seemed like I could but I wanted to verify.

Hmm...I still don't think I'm being clear.

The end result is that I'll have two monitors...a 4:3 1280x1024 beside a 1920x1200 (almost 16:9). I would like my desktop to span across both monitors...not one being a duplication of the other. I would like to find a background image that is about 3200x1200 in size and then using the wallpaper function of Ultramon have that image span across both monitors. By setting the style to Center I'm thinking that it would be a bit larger (top to bottom) than the 16:9 but fit the 4:3 just right.

Is this making sense? Thanks

The wallpaper will be partially cut off on the smaller monitor, you'll get this result with all options (center, stretch, etc) if the wallpaper has the same size as the bounding rectangle of the two monitors.

You could cut the image in two and then resize each part to fit one of the monitors, but then the two images won't line up.

I don't mind losing a bit of the image. I was just concerned that I couldn't have two different resolutions while using Ultramon to span the desktop across both monitors.
