Hi. My three-monitor setup has been working fine for months. Having liked UltraMon before, I decided to try version 3.
On installation, the third screen went black, and is still that way after hours of attempted fixes.
The two monitors still working are both on a Radeon X1650.
The other monitor is on a standard PCI dual-head. The basic problem is that I can't seem to get the machine to recognize that this card exists any more. The card just won't show up in the Device Manager along with the Radeon.
Fixes tried:
- System restore to before installation of Ultramon.
- Scan for hardware changes.
- Switching the PCI card from one slot to another and back.
- Starting the machine with only the PCI card, Radeon removed.
- Switching from the analog to the digital heads of the PCI card.
- Making the PCI card primary or secondary in BIOS
- Everything I could possibly think of in the Display control panel.
... and of course the cables are all tight.
Black screen throughout.
Any idea what might be up with this? Many thanks.

I would try reinstalling the drivers for the PCI video card. Not sure though what would have caused this, seems unlikely that this would be related to UltraMon, UltraMon doesn't replace/install any display drivers.

Thanks Christian. This may sound daft, but - how does one reinstall a driver when the system does not recognize the card for the driver. As I say, the card doesn't show up on the Device Manager - and when I try to install the driver I just get an error message saying that the relevant hardware is not found.
Many Thanks

What happened when you booted only with the PCI video card installed? No display at all, not even the BIOS screen?

Thanks Christian. I went ahead and bought a new card, which has solved the problem.
The old card must have burnt out - coincidentally - just when I installed UltraMon.
Have now installed the UltraMon trial on the system with the new card. Works great.
Thanks for your help.
