Today I started getting this error on v3.2.1 and so I upgraded to 3.2.2, but the error still happens. I'm not aware of any other changes to my system. The result of this is that the taskbar does not display on my second monitor, although other functions of UltraMon seem to work OK. ------------------------- UltraMon Taskbar encountered a fatal error and will exit More information: Version: 3.2.2 OS: 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 x32 Source file: DeskTaskBarManager.cpp Line: 1465 Return value: 0 Last error: 5 ------------------------- Any ideas on what be causing this?

You'll get this if the UltraMon taskbar can't install a hook in the main taskbar (explorer.exe).
Check if you have any security software (firewall, antivirus) installed which might prevent this, you would need to configure it to allow UltraMonTaskbar.exe to install the hook.

Thanks for your response, Christian.
From your response I remember that I updated to a new Zone-Alarm just before this started happening, so I went into ZA and checked all the settings but I can't see anything that would prevent this problem. I checked that ZA had my network seetings OK and also that all UM executables were marked as 'Trusted'. I even ensured I had that the latest video drivers from nVidia. However, I still have the problem, Do you have any specific settings I can check in ZA?

I'm not familiar with ZoneAlarm myself, but another user had the same issue, here's what he told me:
"Turns out it was a bug in ZoneAlarm Pro. I had disabled their OS Firewall because it interfered with another program that I use often. For some reason OS Firewall was preventing UltraMonTaskBar from hooking into explorer even though it was disabled. But since OS Firewall was disabled, it ignored me when I told it that UltraMonTaskBar was a trusted application. Enabling OS Firewall, setting UltraMonTaskBar to trusted, then disabling OS Firewall resolved the issue."

Hi, I have a variant of this--only the line of the error is 896 and the taskbar tool is being installed, even though the message says it isn't. I'm using Norton 360, which knows about Ultramon. Thoughts?
Thanks

Good news--on subsequent reboots, I'm no longer getting the error message. My report was from the first reboot after installing the update.
