Hi! I am finding a way to solve this problem on Windows 7 x64: Two monitor configuration, primary (DisplayPort) for work and secondary (HDMI) just for video player. Position of secondary right and down of primary. Working well, until I simply TURN OFF primary monitor. Then windows somehow? finds that the primary one is off and move taskbar, icons ... to secondary! I dont want this behavior (feture?, bug more likely!). Is somehow possible to make desktop permanent(persistent)? Maybe by UltraMon? The problem is better written here: windows-7-dual-monitors-turning-off-a-monitor Thanks!

UltraMon can't help with this. Does your video card have a DVI port as well? If yes try connecting the monitor this way, that should fix the problem.

Btw, for what's it worth, I'm using the mini display port to DVI adapters on my Firepro 2460. Thankfully, all 4 of these adapters came with the video card, and I don't have this issue.
But, yeah, I'm sticking with DVI as long as I possibly can. I have 6 monitors total and sometimes only the main 2 are turned on and sometimes all 6 (in the morning I do stock trading).
I have absolutely no issues whatsoever when powering any of them on or off, in any order, regardless if the host PC (Win7/64bit) power state. I now know this is because they're all connected via DVI.
My point is, if your monitor at least supports DVI, a DVI-to-whatever adapter might be a consideration, too. This idea seems to work great on the Firepro 2460.

Yes, DVI works. But now I am considering DP to DVI adapter because in Linux, wich I am using too, is DP and HDMI somehow "favoritized" over DVI and I cant set primary monitor to DVI if I have HDMI connected too. So, if I use DP to DVI, videocard (HD7750) will see DP connected - should be no problem with primary monitor set - AND, when I turn off the monitor, no information about it will go back to computer and make no change to desktop. Is this right? Thank You.

I don't know how Linux will handle the adapter, also can't test this myself.
