Does anyone here know if it is possible to use a laptop just as a monitor for a different cpu? I have a Sony Vaio 300mhz which is too slow for most stuff anymore, but I would like to be able to use its screen simply as a flat-screen monitor for another system. Remotely possible? It has a vga output for using a remote monitor, but I doubt that would also work as a vga input by changing gender. Am I wrong?

Thanks

Go for a PCAnywhere type software approach instead.
The sheer number of things that can go wrong in your scenario is staggering.

There is a free opensource pcanywhere-type program somewhere out there, on a DOTcoDOTuk domain, but I forget what it is called.

The program your thinking of is VNC. There is one derivative called tightvnc that's supposed to be a bit faster. http://www.tightbvnc.com.

check it out
