My primary card is a Geforce 3 (AGP) and I've tried installing a Matrox Millenium II. Initally I had the "invalid data" error but fixed that with the reg permissions so the drivers installed. Then I got "could not start" so I downloaded the current drivers for XP from Matrox, and wollah! the card initialises with no conflicts and windows says "the device is working properly" but nothing has changed in my display settings. The card works, the monitor and cabling works, but no joy.
Anyone have any ideas, or suggestions I could try? According to Microsoft this card should work as a secondary display...
