Hi,
I downloaded the new version of UltraMon after literally dousing myself in tea after seeing a feature i have been looking for for a LONG time - mirroring... actual mirroring, i thought. obviously i don't begrudge my mistake, but considering the number of experts on this forum, i was wondering if anyone knows how i could literally mirror (i.e. horizontally reverse) my secondary monitor - it's a long story as to why... i suppose this is a feature request but i doubt it'll get put in so it's also a DESPERATE request as to whether anyone knows if/how i can do this.
Thanks in advance

Check out this screenshot: mirrored_horz.png. Let me know if this is what you had in mind.

I'll add support for this to Beta 7, only requires minor changes to UltraMon mirroring.

Fantastic - will the mirroring available be left-right only, or top to bottom too? either way this is fantastic news. thanks very much. any idea what sort of time scale we're looking at before the next beta comes out?
Thanks again

I plan on adding both, but so far have only experimented with horizontal mirroring.
Beta 7 is scheduled for end of April.

Fantastic - so, with what you've tested, does the mirroring have the ability to be maximised onto the secondary monitor, so it is literally displaying the second desktop as it should be, but mirrored horizontally? or is the feature only available windowed? the reason i'm asking _so_ many questions is because i'm really excited - sorry to keep asking, but it's very cool to finally find this feature. thanks again

It will work both fullscreen and windowed, you'll be able to set options for mirroring horizontally and/or vertically.
The fullscreen mode will basically work like Beta 6 mirroring.
Keep in mind that there is some overhead from mirroring, so system performance will be reduced.

Yeah i had a feeling there would be - luckily enough, i just splashed out on a Geforce4 Ti4600 so that should help - i'm also running two LCD's for which the refresh rate doesn't go higher than 75Hz anyway!! OK fantastic - all my questions are answered - looking forward to the release!!
cheers

I am just curious as to why you are wanting this mirroring ability? I dont see any point because the second monitor is all but unusable. Not a flame but maybe you can enlighten me.

ah, well at the moment i can't tell you, but it's for a product in development that could make some people quite rich. don't worry though, at the moment it's very much in testing and if it should come to the stage where the "product" will require UltraMon we will certainly look to take necessary steps to provide customers with the software.

I just re-read this thread, do you actually want to display different stuff on both monitors, but have the second monitor display everything mirrored horizontally? For example Word on monitor 1 and Excel on monitor 2?
If yes, that won't be possible with UltraMon. UltraMon mirroring displays the same content on two monitors, and Beta 7 adds the option to mirror the display on the second monitor horizontally and/or vertically, but it's still the same content as on monitor 1.

No way!! oh, that's really bad. oh well. is there any chance of the software ever being able to mirror the secondary monitor without the secondary monitor mirroring the primary?
thanks anyway

I'm not sure, but check out http://www.portrait.com for their Pivot Pro software. Is that what you're looking for?

I have no plans to add this feature, this is very different from UltraMon's mirroring feature.
As Nite pointed out, you might want to check out Portrait Displays. They have software that can rotate a display, it's possible they also have the technology to mirror a display.
