I was all set to buy a Geforce4 MX420 PCI (I have no AGP slots in my computer) and using that along with my onboard video (Intel 82810E) to run two monitors. I contacted Gateway, the company who built my computer, and they told me that using the new PCI card would disable the old one. The guy seemed pretty ignorant, so I wanted to find out from you guys.
I thought onboard video using the AGP bus (as mine does) would only be disabled if another AGP card was inserted, as only one can be used at a time. Why would inserting a PCI card have any impact?
Thanks. Any help is greatly appreciated.

It might be that your computer is built that way. I once had a Pentium-motherboard with built-in AGP and that indeed got disabled, even if an ISA adapter was installed.
