Hi, I'm new to this whole multi-monitor thing.
My multi-mon system worked for about 2 hours on the first go then went bonkers.
So far I've invested about 40 hours into testing, retesting, downloading, installing, reinstalling, re-inserting, general fiddling, reading and research. (My research always brings me back here)
I've read about compatability issues with hardware, OS concerns and other stuff.
Here is the hardware.
Primary Card: Matrox G100 AGP (Matrox says this card should work) Secondary Card: S3 Virge PCI (3 independant sources online had different opinions about the S3 chipsets & multi-mon)
OR I also have a Trident from '94 I can't seem to identify.
I also have 2 other PCI video cards that I've tried and three other monitors that I've tried, all in different combinations (all 27 of them). With each combination I get the same result. (eg. mouse disapears before the bottom of the screen and then reapears at the top)
What I want to know is:
1) Why does my 2nd monitor go bonkers?
2) Will UltraMon fix this problem?
3) Does UltraMon support older Hardware? (Provided that the hardware is multi-mon compatable?)
4) Is this a hardware problem? (My apologies if it is my hardware.)

UltraMon won't help with configuration problems, you'll need a working multi-monitor system first. UltraMon should work with all types of video cards, the only exception are dualhead cards without true multi-monitor support, but these days this is mostly a non-issue.
If you are using Windows 2000 or XP, make sure the PCI card (both the S3 and Trident) are primary in BIOS, they are not supported as secondary with these operating systems.
I'm not sure why the mouse would move in this way, check Display Properties > Settings and arrange your monitors as desired. This controls the way the mouse will move between monitors.

I'm running WinME and currently shopping for a dual head video card just to be done with it. I enjoyed the two hours they did work enough to invest in a dual head card. I'm considering the Matrox G450 or the G550.

Either Matrox is great. It comes with good software to handle the popup boxes and such on your screen.
I have always been a loyal ATI fan. I have a Matrox G450 at work and a ATI Radeon VE dh at work. I really wish I had bought the Matrox for home...
And the answer to your riddle, " What has 3 dimmensions but only one side". My Wife (or any woman for that matter!!)
