I am currently running multiple display apps which I think is overkill, but they have some distinct features. Any suggestions on if this is inherantly problematic or not. Id rather run fewer if any ...
but My setup is a bit complex.

System
(main desktop)
HP z230 Win7/Pro RADION Quadro K2000
Using 3 video outs to all 3 monitors

(main secondary - )
HP z600 server, using 2 outs to 2 monitors
(occasional use, rare
HP Z600 server, running VMWare, 1 out to 1 mon
(occasional )
Laptop to 1 mon

Monitors
3 Monitors,
1-HP Zwr2 (using 2 inputs)
2-HP 23xi (both using 2 input)

80% usage is the windows system on all 3,
but occasionaly I swap in the linux servers onto on or more by changing the video in source.

Display Software:
nView Desktop Manager + NVidia control panel (comes with the system) - most things turn off.

HP "My Display" - came with the HP monitors - so far the only tool I have found that can handle the color adjustments properly with a great GUI for that,
but otherwise its dog slow and annoying. If I dont run it on startup though, it doesnt reset the color profiles ...
It can also change input sources - but thats also quite slow.

Ultra-Mon (almost expired). - most useful feature is the profiles for disabling monitors.
If I dont disable a monitor I have changed the input source on then Synergy still thinks
its there and and the mouse just vanishes into a black hole instead of moving to the next system.

mControl (just expired) - most useful feature is changing the input source of montors.

Synergy: Share mouse/keyboard with other servers.
But works best in combination with changing input source (mcontrol) and disabling the monitor (ultra-mon).

So ... my questions
1) Am I missing a feature of UltraMon that lets it use the monitor hardware to change the input source ? This would allow me to atleast not use mControl.

2) Is there an inherent problem besides memory with running all these, assuming I attempt to disable any conflicting features ? In theory I can turn them on and off as needed but all of them like to run as a service and pretend they are in charge of everything.

3) Any other suggestions ? about 90% of the features I dont need, or are already sufficient in the OS .. my main critical needs are input control, color/brightness, and disabling monitors from the OS perspective.

UltraMon can't change input source or monitor color/brightness.

If you only use the display profiles feature of UltraMon, you don't need to have it running constantly in the background. To disable automatic startup, run regedit.exe, then go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\<version> and set AutoStart to zero. You can still apply display profiles by double-clicking them.

Conflicts between similar features are a possibility, but in general this shouldn't be a problem as you could always disable a conflicting feature in UltraMon or one of the other applications.
