Forums -> Multiple monitors -> 9 displays, which configuration is best

Hi,

I want to setup a video installation using a multi monitor pc system running under WinXP on a brand new pc (so number of PCI slots or what else could be choosen free). The system should run with eight 15' LCDs for displaying videos and one LCD for administration purpose and all the MS-WinXP things (log in, start application, taskbar, ...). The eight LCDs should be separated in 2 setups with each 4 displays. Each 4 display-setup should show movies in fullscreen mode stretched over all 4 displays placed next to each other in a line (like an imaginary aquarium where a fish is swimming from display 1 to display 4). on the second 4-LCD-setup the same videos are displayed like on the first 4-LCD setup (located on another wall).

so what configuration seems to be best. A setup with one AGP-card for administration and 2 Matrox G200 MMS Quad cards with each 4 digital LCD displays for example.

Does anyone know how long the video cables from a DVI-video card to a DVI LCD could be at maximum (10 feet, 20 feet, ...)?

Could you help me choosing a setup?

Thanks for your help and thanks for the large amount of excellent multi monitor information on the webside.
