Win7 Home Premium
ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series
HDMI DVI and VGA out

Attempting to use LCD TV via HDMI as an extended display, which I can do using VGA without a problem.

Using Ultramon I can get part way there, problem is mouse gets trapped in the Monitor, the extended display cannot be used for viewing whatever I wish, also I need to use Win+p and use that dialogue to set extended, I was able to do what I want to when using VGA, I was able drag the program to the TV and manipulate it how I like, all attempts using Ultramon or Windows now leave me with just a desktop and a toolbar on the TV but no way to make any further use of the display while in extended mode.

Help appreciated.

Fixing the monitor arrangement via UltraMon menu > Display Settings should fix the problem, drag the monitor icons so that the arrangement matches the actual arrangement of the monitors on your desk. This affects how the mouse moves between monitors.
