I had this issue with 2.0 for the longest. Today I upgraded to 2.1 and it is still not working right.
I would like to have the start bars only show what is running on the monitor it is located on. However, everything minimizes to the default startbar. The only way I can get it to work is to mirror the startbar.
I am running 2k server with a matrox card and an ati (pci).

Are you using desktop enhancement software (WindowBlinds, etc)?
If you have HydraVision running as well, try if disabling it makes any difference.

I don't want to be a useless mimic, but I also am experiencing this error.
I can tell you that I am not running any sort of shell-altering program like windowblinds. This problem also did not occur when I upgraded to 2.1 from an earlier version of UM, but rather when I re-installed Windows, and used the 2.1 installer to re-install Ultra-Mon.

Might be a compatibility issue with some other application (there's no difference between an upgrade and a clean install of 2.1).
For troubleshooting, you could try disabling background applications to see if you still have the problem. You can also mail me a screenshot of running processes (Task Manager > Processes tab).
If the problem doesn't occur all the time, please let me know how it can be reproduced.

Ok, as per your recommendation, turning off NView extensions did fix the problem. I don't believe the other services running at the time (tablet driver & logitech mouseware) were affecting it, but I did disable those as well.
Thanks, C

Thanks for the update.
What version of the Nvidia drivers are you using? I just tested again with the 41.09 drivers, but didn't see the problem. Might also be dependent on the specific nView configuration used though.

Yes, I think you're right about that. I also installed Service pack 1 for windows XP, and then turned the Nview extensions back on. Now Ultramon is working perfectly. I don't know if the Windows service pack had much to do with this, but I would recommend removing Nview completely and then re-enabling it for anyone who experiences this problem.
