Hello, community. As we all know windows 10 is about to be released 29th of July, so i am wondering, is there any UltrMon version that is working fine with it?
Thanks.

3.3.0 works fine on Windows 10, the only issue I noticed is that the UltraMon window buttons don't match the look of the native window buttons. This should be fixed in the next release.

Steve, upgrading to 3.3.0 will fix the taskbar issue.

Version 3.3.0 does not fix same Windows 10 taskbar showing on all monitors. What further setting is needed?

By default the Windows 10 taskbar is in mirror mode, to change this go to UltraMon Options > Taskbar Extensions and change to Standard mode.

Is there a way to expand the mirrored open applications to include text?

To do this, right-click the taskbar and select Properties, then make sure both 'Taskbar buttons' and 'Buttons on other taskbars' are set to 'Never combine'.

Hi Christian,
when can we expect the new release? I finally made the switch to 10 and indeed the buttons look ugly.
Cheers!

Should be ready later this year, but I don't have a specific date yet.

FYI, there is a minor functional issue with UltraMon on Windows 10 in addition to the cosmetic issues with the buttons previously noted by others. Specifically, the button overlays on the window taskbar are sometimes positioned on top of the window's minimize button. So, in order to minimize a window, one ends up having to right-click and choose Minimize from the pull down menu. This seems to happen mainly on displays configured in portrait orientation.
When can we expect a new release?

With which applications do you have this problem? I've only seen this with applications which use custom window title bars, for example Office 2016.
The next release has been delayed a bit, should be ready in the first half of this year.

I think your assessment is correct. The problem with the location of the buttons appears to be primarily limited to Microsoft applications. I've seen it in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
In Visual Studio, the buttons don't appear at all, but I think that's totally reasonable since Visual Studio is already designed to make efficient use of multiple displays and I really don't find myself wanting to move windows back and forth between displays in that environment.
The only non-Microsoft example I've seen is Adobe Photoshop, where the buttons don't appear at all. However, that's another application that already supports multiple displays pretty well, so there may not be much need for them in that environment.

To fix this, go to UltraMon Options > Compatibility, then configure settings for the affected applications and set the custom button spacing option.
For Photoshop setting the 'force window buttons' option will fix the issue, should also be worth a try with Visual Studio.

How can I display two different images on two different monitors?
How can I choose the monitor in the personalize option of Windows 10?

Ok, found it

I have been forced to disable Ultramon after using it for years as it stops Autodesk Revit 2018 from operating properly. Saveas and Open dialog boxes get locked, the only option is to kill the program (Revit) through the task manager. After disabling Ultramon everything works fine.

You could also disable some or all UltraMon features for this specific application only, to do this go to UltraMon Options > Compatibility and configure settings for the application.
The first thing I would try is the option 'use alternative method to add window buttons'. If that doesn't fix the problem, you could then disable window buttons, menu commands and dragging of maximized windows, this way UltraMon won't install a hook in the application.

I have used Ultramon for a long time. Best addition to my computer. I switched computers to Windows 10 and bzzzzzz the product doesn't work. The fastest kill to any company is not staying up on technology. If you don't get the release out right away - ultramon will be Ultragone! :( Hope you can get it fixed.

I've used UltraMon for several years and it still remains my preferred utility to move windows between my primary and secondary monitors. I noted that UltraMon 3.4.0 should be released soon. I'm hoping it might resolve an issue that occurred after a recent Microsoft Office 2016 update. Whenever my Office application windows are maximized the UltraMon window buttons disappear. They reappear when the application windows are not maximized. I downloaded EnumWndBtns.exe linked in another forum thread. Its log file does not list the Office windows when maximized. When the Office windows are reduced in size, they are listed in the log file.

Christian Studer 2017-10-31 13:05
Mark, this has indeed been fixed for 3.4.0, but for 3.3.0 you can use the following workaround: go to UltraMon Options > Compatibility, then configure settings for the affected applications and check the 'force window buttons' option.

I like to set my task bar buttons to "Never Combine". But, on the second monitor the buttons are small and the labels don't show up. Is there a fix? This used to work in W7. Using W10 and Ultramon 3.4.0
|
Christian Studer 2017-11-29 23:53
Jeff, to fix this right-click the taskbar and select Taskbar Settings from the menu, then under Multiple Displays change the 'Combine buttons on other taskbars' setting.

UltraMon Windows button disappeared, after update to Windows 10 version 1809.

You'll need to upgrade to 3.4.1, this release adds support for version 1809 and later of Windows 10.

When can we expect an update for windows 10 1903?
|
Christian Studer 2019-09-15 14:21
Pieter, what issues do you have? 3.4.1 works fine for me on Windows 10 version 1903.
Christian Studer - www.realtimesoft.com
|
Pieter 2019-09-28 03:04
I don't have issues because i did not update to 1903. I just want to be sure there are no issues.
|
Charles 2019-10-14 14:30
Win 10 1903 installed and the ability to click the icons on browsers (Firefox) and Thunderbird to move to second screen no longer there. ALso, Ultramon has to keep being restarted.

Anyone else noticing strange delay issues in Win 10 / 1803. I am running into the same issues even after upgrading to 3.4.1
|
Christian Studer 2019-11-14 14:11
Is there a delay when launching applications, or when doing certain things in an application?
Does the issue go away after closing UltraMon?
