I've been testing UltraMon now for a couple of days and so far really like it. Especially the easy way to configure and manage profiles is a big plus!
At the moment I just have one big issue. My HP Tablet PC doesn't seem to support having the external VGA as primary. This means that by default all apps open on the Tablet screen and not on the monitor. Even worse, after moving an app to the monitor, any child window (dialog boxes, etc) appear on the tablet, making it praktically unusable to work on the monitor.
Question: would it be possible to enhance UltraMon to have child windows appear on the same screen as the parent window?

This is something I'm going to consider for the next update of the shortcuts feature, but I don't know yet if it will be implemented.
One thing you can try is creating a shortcut for the application, with custom window settings, Show set to Last Used Position. UltraMon will then remember the position of both the main application window and dialog boxes, etc.
BTW, I guess you only have this problem with some applications? Most applications should open dialog boxes on the monitor they're on by default.

I mainly have this issue with Lotus Notes. When running on the 2nd monitor, all pop-ups appear on the 1st monitor. I'm slowly getting used to it but in general it remains a pain :-((
Would be really great if you could provide a solution to this problem!
Anyway, just ordered my license :-))

I also just got an HP/Compaq Tablet PC. I love it, but it does have some display oddities such as you were describing. It's smart enough that when I put it in the docking station, it automatically (and dynamically, if it's powered on when I dock it) switches the "primary" to the external monitor, moves the task bar there as well, and retains it's own screen as a secondary monitor. However, any icons that I've parked on the desktop stay on the tablet screen. If I drag them over to the primary, they'll stay there - but only until the next time I un-dock. Then they revert to the tablet screen and stay THERE.
I've also seen the problem you describe where child applications seem to insist on opening on the tablet screen. (E.g., if I click to download a PDF file from within IE, even though IE is running on my primary monitor, the Acrobat splash screen will appear on the tablet screen, even when the PDF document ends up displaying within the browser on the primary monitor.) In fact, I've found it almost impossible to predict where an application will open when I launch it.
I think Tablet PCs are going to be hot, and I'd love to see you put a little more effort into supporting them.

Support for configuration-specific icon positions will definitely be added, so you'll be able to have different icon configurations for docked and undocked configurations.
Regarding the primary monitor: maybe the external monitor isn't actually changed to be the Windows primary monitor. You can check this by choosing About from the UltraMon menu and taking a look at the system information. If it says 'removable' next to the external monitor, this monitor can't be set as primary.
I just tested with IE and PDF files, and the Acrobat splash screen always opened on the primary monitor.
