Forums -> Multiple monitors -> Radeon 9700 pro w/ pci radeon 7500?

anybody know if they work together? It seems the radeon 9700 pro is picky and i am looking for a decent pci card that works with it.

I do not recommend the 7500 - the video outputs are blurry, especially the DVI output.
...still looking for an alternative...

I just installed a Radeon 7000 PCI 32Mb with my 9700 All-in_wondr. Running P4 3.06 on an Intel PESVMB, and Win XP Pro. So far its working. I'm using Hydravision for monitor management. I have ahd a couple hiccups on reboot where my PCI card boots as primary monitor. BIOs are set with AGP as primary, but still seem to get this issue.

We have the 9700 Pro and the 7500 PCI running together, no problems, but not using the DVI output. Have not tried it but I would consider the Powercolor 9000 PCI, should be better than the 7500.

yes its possible and works great as long as you can fix the sb driver issues or dont use an audigy 1/2 or sblive

Im curious as to what problems you had with your Audigy and running the 9700pro/7500 PCI combination. I am working on a mod where i am installing an 5" LCD pannel into the top of my case, and using the 7500pci RCA out to run it. My primary AGP card is a 9700pro and will be running my 21" monitor. I do use an Audigy 2 Platinum. you kind of raised my eyebrow when i saw you had problems with the SB products. any details would be appriciated.

Its the fact that creative drivers dont support smp (multi Processors) its not the display setup but it does effect the display anytime you have movement in the pci display the sound starts to buzz and distort

So do you believe taht while running the audigy, that if i were to run winamp visualations on the LCD pannel powered by the 7500pci, it would make the sound distort? This would certainly of defeat one of the purposes of this mod and eliminate a significant "Wow Factor".

I have a Dual (SMP) P-III/500 Win2K system. Would I have problems with a new Creative sound card? Right now I'm doing fine with an old Creative ISA AWE64 sound card.

9 times out of 10 yes you might be able to get a audigy 2 to work but all of the new audigy stuff has serious driver issues with smp but creative has to fix it cause now hyperthreading is mainstream and that is emulated smp and has the same issues

Thanks for the info. I probably won't be getting an Audigy any time soon, and if I do, hopefully, I'll have a new system by then.

Well, I have both video cards installed. I ended up purchasing a PowerColor ATi 7000 instead of the 7500, only because Fry's didn't have any 7500's when I got there. It was a little tricky getting the drivers and control pannel for both cards (9700/7000) to behave but they are now working well. the 5" LCD mounted in the top of the case looks good running Task Manager and Health monitors. It also plays Winamp Vis's and DVD/DivX nicely. I have several pic's and a couple videos of the mod in action. email me to see them until I get them posted.

-GT- I have not had a problem thus far with any buzzing of the Audigy 2. Perhaps I got lucky on PCI slot selection/placement.
