I have:
Win98
Tyan Tsunami ATX
S3 Speedstar 55 AGP
Diamond Stealth II S220 PCI
17" Generic Monitor
old(!) 14" Tandy Monitor
I've gotten dual monitors working with:
1. PCI - 14"
2. AGP - 17"
But I want the 17" to be my primary.
In this config:
1. AGP - 17"
2. PCI - 14"
the system completely hangs when I go to the settings tab in the display control panel.
and in this config:
1. PCI - 17"
2. AGP - 14"
the refresh rate is completely screwed up on the 14" and the advanced tab only gives the options for Optimal or Adapter default, neither of which fixes it. The monitor does have an 800x600 max resolution, so I've set it to that, but no solution.

Crisis over. I used the Rendition chipset drivers rather than the Diamond Drivers, and moved it to:
1. 17" AGP
2. 14" PCI
... and the damned thing works
