After installing a Cardex Geforce2MX, I am not able to boot into Windows ME unless I unplug my monitor from the back of the computer, start the computer, wait several seconds, then replug the monitor.

If I leave the monitor plugged-in, Windows thinks the monitor is a new hardware, tries to the load the driver for the Delta DA995 monitor, then freezes. My previous card was a Diamond Viper V550.

Would appreciate some suggestions.

Try just getting the system up. Go to Display -> Settings->Make sure you have the Cardex display selected if there's more than one card. Click the Advanced button. Select the monitor tab and de-select "Automaticaly detect plug and play monitors".

I'm going by what I would do for Win 98. Please post the results or, if you had to do anything different, what it was....Thanks

I ended-up reinstalling Windows ME and that corrected the problem. Probably a long way solution, but it worked.
