Don't remember where I read this, but is it true that picking up a dual head video card is preferred to using two separate video cards? I think the logic used was that the OS spends more resources handling the separate cards.
I want to set up a triple head system and am trying to decide between using a dualhead card + singlehead card or just picking up the triple head Matrox Parhelia. Performance is a key issue. Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't know if there is some overhead when using multiple cards, but I never noticed any performance decrease when using multiple video cards instead of a single multi-monitor card.

ditto. an actually, i noticed my primary card (which i game on) and overall system ran better when it only had 1 monitor on it and another on a 2nd card. of course i just had to add a 3rd monitor (cant have any unused vid port-lol) so i am kinda back to where i started , just with alot more real estate
