I have been trying to do what is described as difficult in both the HTPC section of AVS forum and on the Showshifter BB, trying to create a dual use PVR PC. I want to run general programs on the PC monitor and the Showshifter PVR operated from my HDTV in my bedroom. Your software has gotten me 95% there. I discovered it after reading this recent very helpful post on the avs forum: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=279041 I had been to your site before but the ability to launch a program on a specific monitor and make make that display primary and then bounce back to your original configuration on program close was not aparent from your site. Making this known would create a lot of interest from ShowShifter and Snapstream users I think. (Since these apps must run on the primary display they result in a configuration which causes dialogue boxes to pop up on your TV when using your PC. Therefore you must set the PC monitor to back to primary after using your PVR software)
The slight hitch I am having is ideally I would like to automatically set up the HDTV as primary mirrored to the PC monitor when Showshifter is launched. Now I can only set up the Showshifter icon to launch on the HDTV with the monitor disabled. If I check the mirror mode property on the Showshifter shortcut my monitor becomes the primary whether or not it is set as primary in the properties. Also if I create a profile with the desired configuration for showshifter before launching, Showshifter displays an error when TV viewing starts. The error comes from direct show: "DShow: The display graph failed to start".
I am runing Windows XP with a Geforce Ti4600 AGP 4X dual head. I initially tried to set up hotkeys for the 2 desired profile using Nview and desktop manager. Changing primaries and going to clone mode caused the Display ids to reverse so my monitor became number 2 which introduced bugs when the display ids would revert after a few reboots. Also when I tried to hotkey back to my non Showshifter profile my primary would not revert back to my monitor. At least now I can go back and forth without a problem. I just don't have my ideal setup of showshifter being cloned back to the monitor. If this were solved UltraMon would be a required app for PVR users.

If you check mirror mode for a shortcut, UltraMon will start mirroring using your current settings before launching the application.
To configure your mirror settings, select Mirroring > Settings from the UltraMon menu.
Please note that UltraMon mirroring is not related to the clone mode of your video card. It is a software mirroring solution, and doesn't support mirroring of video applications (ATI and Nvidia clone mode also don't support this, but Matrox does).
Support for controlling video card-specific features such as clone or span mode using UltraMon is being considered for a future release.

I did that and discovered a showshifter incompatabilty with UltraMon mirroring. You get a DShow: graph failed error and Showshifter won't show TV.
Showshifter is compatible with nvidia clone mode. Of course there is no overlay on the secondary clone. The hitch is that you have to set up the nvidia clone manually because when you use an nvidia profile to do it the monitor numbers get reversed. Using an UltraMon application shortcut before setting the nvidia clone does make the process easier though.

If you have checked the 'disable video overlays and 3D acceleration' option, try if it works with the option unchecked. This is the most likely cause of the error message you get.
I'll try to test with Showshifter tomorrow.

Checking the 'disable video overlays and 3D acceleration' option did not allow Showshifter to show TV (There is never any problem showing stored video with Showshifter). Neither does unchecking use high quality downscaling.
Bug: Mirroring the secondary TV to the PC monitor and then stoping the mirror moves the taskbar to the TV.
It would be great to include the nvidia desktop manager function: move taskbar and icons to monitor X.
It would also be great to be able to set up mirroring in profiles.

Thanks for the bug report, I'll look into it.
Regarding the DShow error: if you want to do further troubleshooting, try if you have the same problem if Netmeeting Remote Desktop Sharing is running (this also loads a mirror driver, just like UltraMon mirroring).
To activate Remote Desktop Sharing, run conf.exe, select Tools\Remote Desktop Sharing from the menu, close Netmeeting and right-click the Netmeeting icon in the system tray to activate Remote Desktop Sharing.
