Anyone have any idea how to reduce or eliminate the delay during boot up while the second monitor is being initalized. It adds almost a minute to my systems startup and as far as I can see nothing is going on. What causes this delay anyway? Thanks

I noticeced that on my system but I did not see anybody else complain about it. I think it my be related to mapping the memory for the secondary display.

I haven't noticed any noticable delay loading the second monitor.

I was using a Creative Labs rivaTNT AGP and a 3d Blaster Banshee, now I'm using the ATI Radeon VE dual head. They all take about the same time (about 1 minute total).
Most (about 50 seconds worth) is the hardware initializing .. BIOS, Scsi Bios and Registry .. with a 1 Gig Coppermine the final OS load goes very quickly. Usually, when something is taking a long time to load it is waiting for something it can't find. Try doing a load with logging on and go over the bootlog carefully to see if it is taking a long time looking for some particular file.

Win2000 doesn't have the delay, only Win9x. Don't know why though, but looks like Win9x loads/initializes the BIOS of the secondary card, whereas Win2000 doesn't (this would explain why only Win9x shows the video BIOS screen on secondary monitors).
