Triple Head High   2003-10-09 17:20
I have Matrox Parahelia card operating triple head, but highest possible resolution is 3840 x 1024.

Is it possible to add a second card and achieve 4800 x 1200 ? I want to move up to three 21" LCDs that support the 1600 x 1200.

Any advice would be appreciated.

yes, the parhelia is capable of 2x 1600x1200 in dualhead. you can add an extra pci card for the third monitor (that supports 1600x1200).

triplehead on the parhelia isn't true triplehead (taskbar will go over all screens). With a 2 card setup that isn't possible anymore, but that shouldn't be a problem, only if you plan on surround gaming and stuff like that.

Darnt -- Thanks for the info.

Could we jack up the same config to 5 monitors at 8000 x 1200 if we add 2 more PCI cards in addition to the Parahelia and single PCI card?

Guess you might run into PCI slot availability problems.....

If you want 5 monitors, 2 monitors are connected to the parhelia so there are 3 monitors over that needs to be connected with a pci card.
There are simple pci cards with 2 outputs. so with 2 pci cards it is possible. However cheap pci cards (like ati 7500) are very limited in the second output. Resolutions like 1600x1200 will not work very well. I have here an ati 7500 pci and if I connect 2 monitors to it on 1600x1200 the second monitor has a very bad quality (ghosting, blurred etc).

You can also by a single pci card that supports 4 monitors (matrox mms, Colorgraphic Xentera)
