Is it possible to have the 2 monitors run seprarate desktops (like BeTwin - http://www.thinsoftinc.com/) but controlled by only one set of keyboard/mouse ? BeTwin requires an additional set per monitor used, and I don't want that - but would prefer maybe a hotkey to switch between control of the desktops.

I'm thinking that task would have to be down with a KVM switch box (get a nice one, not the cheapo's), and with software provided (or on the box itself) with it you would be able to hit a hotkey to change usage of desktop, but use the same Keyboard/Mouse. :)

I'm guessing based on that fact you mentioned the BeTwin software. That you have a similar setup that the diagram on their product sight shows.

Desktop Rover sounds pretty cool. Currently I use RAdmin to control many computers from my primary computer, and it works great, but I like that you can just scroll off one computers monitor onto the next. Though I still think RAdmin fills my particular needs better, and it's cheaper.

I've placed an RAdmin viewer window on a MaxiVista screen (3rd monitor) so I could watch processes on a remote computer, while doing other work on my 2 primary monitors.

Hmmm, isn't RADMIN too slow? It transfers picture from second coputer over the Internet, am I correct?

Desktop Rover only transferes mouse and keyboard and clipboard to the second display.

RAdmin 2.1 is quite fast over a LAN. If your doing systems administration, it's barely noticeable that your at a remote computer. I wouldn't try to play a fast action video game via RAdmin though.

If you use RAdmin to control Win2k/XP, make sure you set the viewer update speed to 20/sec, instead of the default of 100/sec, otherwise it'll hog the CPU on the remote computer. The 100/sec setting only works well with NT, since it has a video hook driver for NT, but not for the newer OSes, but it still works great at 20/sec when controlling 2K/XP.

There is a free eval of RAdmin, so youy can try before you buy, and it's only $35 for a 2-computer license.

If they ever release 3.0 (there's a big debate over whether they ever will), it will include hook drivers for newer OSes. But 2.1 works great with the correct screen update setting, so no need to wait.
