When I maximize to desktop what happens is as follows:
The window indeed maximized to the two monitors. However, it does not maximize to the top of the left monitor, and it does not maximize to the bottom of the right monitor. On the left monitor there is a section of the screen on the top displaying the desktop or other windows, and ditto on the bottom of the right monitor!

Thanks for the information. The problem is that the left monitor isn't exactly top-aligned with the right monitor, it is 16 pixels higher. You can fix this in Display Settings (UltraMon menu > Display Settings).
By default, UltraMon ensures that desktop-maximized windows aren't covered by taskbars or desktop toolbars, that's why the window isn't stretched to the bottom of the right monitor. To change this, go to Options > General and uncheck 'take taskbars into account when maximizing to the desktop'.
