I use Windows Media Player 9 minimized in the taskbar (player controls visible)... this causes my computer to freeze when UltraMon is enabled.

But that may be wm9 that's not fully dual-display compatible?

This works fine on my system, XP SP1 and UltraMon 2.3.

Does the system stop responding as soon as you minimize the media player?

also works fine with win xp sp1 and win media 9. has always worked fien this way =)

It works fine for me too. I am able to run Windows Media Player 9 in any monitor. I have Smart Taskbar enabled, so the WMP 9's taskbar icon appears in whichver monitor "owns" it. If I minimize WMP 9, it reduces to the control buttons in the taskbar of the primary monitor.

Restoring WMP 9 to its original size results in it returning to whichever monitor owned it.

System configuration: WXP with SP-1, WMP 9. Both XP and WMP 9 are up-to-date with the latest service packs as of December 5, 2003.

Yes, it stops responding for about 3 minutes with CPU at 100%... after that it works, and I can maximize/minimize. but as soon as I restart WM9 and do the same, the 3-5 minutes freezing comes back.

UltraMon 2.3
Windows Media Player 9.00.00.3075

Forgot... I'm using Windows XP. No SP1.
Maybe that's it?

Difficult to say, might also be a conflict with some other application.

You could run EnumHooks and post the log here, this helps detecting potential application conflicts.

Thanks for the information, I'm not aware of any issues with UltraMon and IntelliPoint.

For further troubleshooting:

- what's the process priority for the Smart Taskbar under UltraMon Options > Smart Taskbar?

- try if disabling startup applications (except UltraMon) with msconfig.exe fixes the problem
