I saw on the Dell forums that someone said that no geforce3 can support dual monitors. I saw here that there is a database entry that now confuses me:
Config 5579, submitted by John L. McGary on Oct 24, 2003
WinXP, 2 monitors, 1 video cards
1gz amd. 512mb ram home bilt.
Card 1:
AGP, Nvidia GeForce3 chipset
Glichy moving window for one mon. to another

I have the geforce3 128mb card from a Dell 8100 in my Dell 8200 2ghz 256Mb Rdram, 19" monitor. I have a really nice, but old, ViewSonic PS790 19" sitting here that I would like to use. Can I, or can I not just plug anadapter into the dvi slot on the geforce3? I imagine it would not run as good as having a separate card dedicated to the second monitor, but it would be nice to experiment. Thanks for reading and for your comments

That is a good question. The adapter is only $8 shipped from NewEgg, so why not give it a try, and give us the official answer for your particular card.

I got that adapter and tried this.....and it sorta works....both monitors come up, but they don't work independently (and I can't get them to). So it seems the only solution is to add another PCI card and do dual monitors that way

Did you try the latest drivers from NVidia just in case?
