one more q,
on these dell 2.4/800 Pentium 4 PE servers (400SC etc) that have either integrated video or a miserable ATI Rage XL card, can i plug in a nice appian or matrox 4x DVI output card and have a solid working setup --- on the cheap :) ??

Does it have an AGP slot? If so, it should work. I think some Dell servers say the AGP slot is "unsuported", but from what I've read, I think BIOS updates and OS service packs will get them working.
If not, then you can use a new PCI video card, but it won't be as fast as an AGP card.
