It is actually possible, using a special beta Win2000 driver.

I set up a secondary monitor using the Voodoo2 using the instructions in the article and it works well! I've run into one exception: In Flash 4 or Flash 5, the cursor disappears on toolbars, menus, and the desktop. The only place the mouse is visible is on the Flash stage. If I turn off the secondary monitor things work just fine. My PC (I've set this up at the office) is a Dell Dimension XPS D266, and the primary video controller is a Dell D1028L, running Windows 2000 Server. Any suggestions about how to resolve this?

Are there any Windows 98 drivers that do this?

Would using the voodoo2 drivers in win2k impair my use of the card as a 3d card in games?

There are no Win98/Me drivers to allow the card to be used as a 2D card.
If you use the special beta 2D drivers for Win2000, you won't be able to use the card for 3D games, these drivers have no 3D acceleration at all.

I've run such a setup (v2 for second monitor) since the beta drivers came out. And it's working great. The drawing errors are acceptable.
I have however noticed some instability when having hardware acceleration enabled. Not a very big deal though.
I've even managed to enable glide support. That was cool :).
It's working great under Windows XP (using the old beta drivers), but i haven't yet tried to enable glide. Should work, i just haven't tried. (And i probably won't do either, i have no need for it any longer).

The windows is 98SE.I tried the voodoo bios and many other things but without result. In the device manager , the accel. is in the category "Sound, Video and Game Controllers".Is there any way to turn off the built-in card and use the VOODOO in the windows ?

In case anyone still cares: My old Diamond Monster 3D II works like a charm (and out of the box) with my third monitor. 1024x768x16bpp@75Hz but without the little errors.

...on Windows XP (with a Geforce 5900), I forgot to mention.

another correction: there are _some_ little errors, like weirdly blinking cursors
