I know this is probably answered somewhere, however I could not find it.
Will the next version allow rotation of single monitors? (both real single monitors and a spanned set such as created by nvidia drivers or matrox drivers) I have tried to rotate a vertical spanned set with nvrotate and pivotpro and both have failed to accomplish this.

Support for screen rotation will probably not be added in UltraMon 3, but I don't know for sure yet.

What almost certainly wouldn't be supported though is screen rotation in span mode.

what issues complicate the matter? I heard from a friend that the nvidia rotation just has the driver render onto a backbuffer and that is then translated while being sent to the monitor. If you have the rotation being done between the splitting it should make no difference if its spanned or single screen, or am I overlooking something here?

I haven't looked into this yet, and have no idea if/how it could be implemented.

UltraMon doesn't support span mode, so it's unlikely that rotation in span mode would be supported.

ok, so you dont wrap the current graphics driver in any way?

suggestions: ability to add parameters to shortcuts for any program which have it start out on a specific monitor (IE in quicklaunch), and also ability to allow multiple autohide bars, one per monitor (not supported by windows, I have 3 quick launch bars, one at the top of each monitor, I would like each to launch apps on 'its' monitor and also to have autohide and always on top mode)

No, UltraMon doesn't require any low-level interaction with the graphics hardware.

Per-shortcut application positioning is supported, to configure this, right-click the shortcut, select Properties, then adjust the settings on the UltraMon - Window tab.

Multiple standalone toolbars with autohide will be supported in UltraMon 3. Please note that not all toolbars will work with UltraMon though.

Here's my vote also for screen rotation -- I would even gladly re-register your program for such a feature, rather than to pay for PivotPro -- I find your software to be much more professionaly done. Thanks!

Some drivers allow this, even in '98 with defult driver allows rotation through alt+ctrl+[arrow key]

This is allredy done with 3rd party apps, and any driver level tool can do this.

this would only complicate UltraMon, lower performance, make a hard install
